The BCHA’s annual Pioneer Day is a half-day field trip for Berrien County’s 3rd and 4th graders. Open to public, private, and parochial schools, students experience hands-on activities that give them a glimpse into the life of Michigan’s pioneers. Home school families interested in attending should contact Pioneer Day Coordinator, Tara Velez at firstname.lastname@example.org to learn about logistics unique to your situation!
Pioneer Day has returned in 2021 with a new twist and we’re excited about it! This year, we’re offering all Berrien County classrooms and home school cohorts Pioneer Day in a Box kits. Unlike traditional traveling trunks, these individual kits will allow for safe social distancing in the classroom and still let at-home students participate!
Because of our choice to use kits, we made the decision to offer two options for different grade levels to inspire a love of history even earlier. Each student kit is $10.00 and the teacher packet is free. If you have students who are learning from home, a parental packet with directions on how to complete each activity will be available. You can order your classroom kits here or download our Pioneer Day Letter and return to us via mail. Last day to order kits is April 28th. No late orders accepted!
